Course Description: 

This two-hour course offers a comprehensive understanding of direct restorative management in dentistry. It emphasizes the fundamental principles and steps involved in cavity preparation for operative dentistry. The goal is to equip dentists with the necessary knowledge and skills for effective cavity preparation and caries removal.

This course offers a structured and thorough overview of the tooth preparation process. Dentists will explore essential principles for establishing proper outline form and initial depth, while learning to effectively incorporate retention, resistance, and convenience forms into tooth preparation. Through this course, participants gain proficiency in pulp protection and master techniques for caries removal, with a focus on selective caries removal and its application in various clinical scenarios.

 

Upon completion of this course, participants should be able to:

  • Describe the aim of restorative management in dentistry.
  • Describe different steps in tooth preparation.
  • Know the principles and features of establishing proper outline form and initial depth, retention, resistance from, convenience form, and pulp protection.
  • Know how to remove caries and different strategies in selective caries removal.

This is a two-step registration process:

Although each lecture in this series is hosted by a different school, your registration will be through The University of Utah School of Dentistry. We will document your attendance, provide your CE credits, and be available if you have questions.

Fatemeh Keshani, DDs, MSc

Dr. Fatemeh Keshani is a highly skilled dental professional who holds a Doctor of Dental Surgery (DDS) and a Master's in Restorative Dentistry (MSc) from Isfahan University of Medical Sciences, as well as a master’s in dental sciences from McGill University, which she earned in 2023. She completed her dental equivalency in Canada in the same year. With over a decade of clinical experience, Dr. Keshani has served as an Assistant Professor in Restorative Dentistry at Isfahan University and has been a faculty lecturer at McGill University. Her expertise includes restorative dentistry, dental materials, and caries management. She has received numerous awards, including the Canada Graduate Scholarships-Master’s in 2021 and the Top Researcher Award at Isfahan University in 2010.
