Course Description:

This course will review soft tissue pathology most commonly biopsied in dental practice. Various biopsy methods will be reviewed along with principles to follow when selecting the appropriate biopsy method. Biopsy techniques will be discussed. Early detection devices will also be reviewed.

Course objectives; 

1.  The participant will be able to apply the biopsy principles discussed in selecting the appropriate oral soft tissue pathology biopsy method.

2.  This course will review soft tissue pathology commonly encountered and biopsied in the dental office.

3.   The most appropriate biopsy techniques to aid in the preservation and effective diagnosis of the biopsy specimen will be emphasized.




Dr. Bryan G. Trump

Dr. Bryan Trump is a Board Certified Oral & Maxillofacial Pathologist and full-time Associate Professor at The University of Utah School of Dentistry.  Bryan grew up in Centerville, Utah. He attended Weber State University, where he earned a Bachelor of Science in Microbiology.  His DDS is from Virginia Commonwealth University School of Dentistry, and he completed his Oral & Maxillofacial Pathology Residency as well as a Master’s in Biomedical Sciences at Texas A&M University College of Dentistry.
