Welcome to DesignBuildUTAH. Here, we focus on practical architectural experience that aims to enhance construction knowledge and skills through teamwork with peers and the local community, creating a better world with our hands.
We are excited to share meaningful opportunities with you, in Bluff, located in the American Southwest, alongside students from the University of Utah’s master program.
Program Highlights:
Accommodation: Bluff Campus
Duration: One session (2-4 weeks), with the option to select up to four sessions.
Cost: $500 per session (For those interested in volunteering for more than two sessions, please enter the total number of sessions you plan to stay for in the quantity field and complete your purchase.)
Included:
Participation in construction work for DesignBuildUTAH@Bluff projects alongside the University of Utah graduate students:
- Gaining comparable construction knowledge and experience as the university’s graduate students.
- An explanation on the use of necessary tools under staff supervision, along with access to those tools.
- While we recommend bringing your frequently-used tools, participants from abroad having difficulty bringing tools should consult with the staff in advance.
- Transportation means to commute between the construction site and the Bluff campus (you can join the group vehicle for your commute).
Accommodation on the Campus:
- Primarily, only mattresses are provided. Please bring your sleeping bag, pillow, and other bedding. Participants from abroad who find it difficult to bring bedding should consult with the staff beforehand.
- You can join group dinners during the construction period (Tuesday to Saturday on workdays; dinners on holidays, and all breakfasts and lunches are not included).
- Please inform us in advance if you have any allergies or dietary restrictions.
- For those registering for more than two sessions, you can stay on the Bluff campus during the breaks between sessions.
Final Confirmation Before Payment:
- You have held at least one meeting with DesignBuildUTAH staff to understand the program details and have shared your stay plans with the responsible staff.
- Should there be any changes to your stay schedule, you will contact the responsible staff.
- Please understand that payments for volunteer stays are non-refundable.
